Fun and Fitness with the Outdoor Gym

Tonight participants had a play on the outdoor gym and did some running around the lakes with several 250m bursts. Also did some distance checking.

Out to improve

Steve McLean, CLAC Lead Coach and Chairman of Southport Waterloo Athletic Club, travelled to Cheshire yesterday to learn more about off road running technique and how his style matches the ideal. Steve reckons everyone could benefit from this course (Off Road Running organised by England Athletics) so look out for the next one.

Thanks to Cheshire Athletics Network, all other participants and, especially, running stars and coaches Jackie Newton and Bashir Hussain for expert guidance.

Windy in the park

Useful session in the park tonight.  More pleasant than it could've been given the remnants of hurricane Katia. Thanks and well done to those who made it and to Darren and Elaine for again helping.

Group pictured here learning about the routes taken at Saturday's London City race - click here. This was Britain's largest urban orienteering race with over 1100 participants. Earlier they'd seen Darren's course from yesterday's Lake District Mountain trial - click here.

Last night at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre a small group tried out the maze.  20 controls in the maze but only 10 on your map.  Points scored for visiting those on your map, penalties for visiting others.  All this within time limit of 2 minutes.  Excellent fun.
